The Panasonic® Digital Document Company announced a new firmware for the UF-7000, UF-8000 and UF-9000.

New Toner Cartridge

As introduced by Panasonic in Marketing Bulletin 06-004(click here for previous bulletin), the new toner cartridge for these models, the UG-5540 has an extended life of up to 10,000 pages @ 3% page coverage, or 6,000 pages @ 5% page coverage. The new firmware removes the 6,000 page limitation for the previous models (serial number BF and below).

Availability

The new firmware is available from the TechLink section of the Business Link website at http://b2b.panasonic.com. You are required to enter your username and password provided by Panasonic to obtain access to the firmware. The requirements to obtain a username and password are not determined at this point.

The Breakdown

Below is the breakdown of the yield for each cartridge.

UG5530 - 5,000 page yield @ 5% coverage (only works in the previous version machines, serial BF and below). It will not physically fit into the newer machines.

UG5540 - 6,000 page yield @ 5% coverage in newer version machines (serial CF and above) or all machines with the new corresponding firmware as stated above.

UG5540 - 5,000 page yield @ 5% coverage in older version machines (serial BF and below) without the firmware revision installed.
